How does Sadie drop to #9? How does Rylee drop from #5 to #23 after one muddy race? All season, these girls were faster than many girls ranked ahead of them. The muddy mess at NXN should not wipe out a year of massive success. Cali girls just didn't have the right spikes for those conditions.

Way too much weight put on one muddy race. A whole season of hard work and success was wiped out by 1 muddy, rainy messy race. No offense, but these rankings are not thoughtful.

And I am sure that the other California programs feel the same way as Corona Santiago does. But the Saugus girls found a way to finish second twice (2007-08) and third once (2010) at Portland Meadows in far more challenging conditions than this year's NXN races at Glendoveer Golf Course. Great Oak and Davis Senior all managed to make the podium from 2014-16 at NXN at Glendoveer in similar conditions. And Buchanan was third last year at Glendoveer. Corona Santiago ran faster historically than all those teams at Woodward Park at the California state meet. Everyone knows if the NXN race was held at the Woodward Park course, the Mt. SAC course, the Woodbridge course or even the John Hunt Park course in Alabama where the Garmin RunningLane Championships are held, that Corona Santiago would have fared better than they did in Oregon, but it wasn't, and thus, the only true elite postseason national team competition of the year decides the final order because it is the only time all the teams raced together. Corona Santiago and other California teams might not think it is fair, but it is the system that is in place until another group or brand develops an alternative in the future.

I searched every way on NFHS, and State Championships are not listed as a live or upcoming event.

I know it's early, but Air Academy and JSerra are ranked below a bunch of teams that they beat handily at Woodbridge.
Niwot, which captured RunningLane championship in 2021, motivated to become first Colorado program to capture Nike Cross Nationals title, with Lone Peak pursuing similar goal in Utah and Buchanan attempting to become only California girls team to secur...

Waveown, the SW is solid... but in 2023, there will be 5 NXN-worthy teams from California with some big transfers to teams that were already outstanding. Buchanan, J Serra, Ventura, and Oaks Christian will be strong, and there will be one big surprise school that will sneak into the top 4 in the state. 2023 is going to be VERY exciting in girls XC, especially in the West.

You have 10 teams from the Southwest ranked in the top 30. The three teams from SW at NXN went 2, 4, and 7. Too bad they didn't get another at-large bid. They deserved it. The SW is a region of death.
